Who Accomplices is and why it needed a Webflow team

Accomplices is a consulting and production company led by its founder and CEO, Tesa Lau. It is the lead agency behind the U.S. Air Force Armament Directorate's outreach to industry: Accomplices launched the Directorate's website in 2020 and kept growing the program from there. Every show the Directorate attends, from Weapons Pitch Day to the Air & Space Forces Association conferences, needs a page that invites industry in and turns interest into meetings. Accomplices owned the relationship, the message and the brand guide. What it needed was a team that could build those pages in Webflow, show after show, inside its own workspace. That is where we came in.

The challenge: a new show every season, and visitors on government networks

The 2022 calendar ran from the Warfare Symposium in March to Weapons Pitch Day in July, the Air, Space & Cyber Conference in September and a Weapons Conclave in the fall, split into a government-only day and an industry day. Each show needed its own page, its own registration path and a clean place in the archive once it was over. The audience made it harder. Many visitors arrive on government laptops, VPNs and locked-down browsers, where a meeting request form can quietly fail. For 2023, Accomplices set the base program at four events, with major structural updates in two publishing cycles and smaller updates in between.

  • 2 publishing cycles for major updates that year

How we built one events site that carries every show

Rather than start over for each show, we built the Directorate's events in Webflow as one system: a page per show, a shared structure for the hero, the program and the request forms, and a past-events archive where each show lives on after it ends. Registrations and meeting requests flow into Accomplices' HubSpot. On the AFA pages we added plain guidance for visitors on government devices: which browsers and connections work, and what to try if the form fails. The Weapons Conclave page walks industry guests through every registration step, including the visit request their security office needs. The Innovation Targets page lays out the Directorate's six priorities and ends on one call to action: submit your idea.

How we brought the live stream and the booth onto the same site

Weapons Pitch Day 2022 ran in person and online. We put the live stream on the event page, after checking with IBM how far its video player could be styled to match the site, and kept the recordings on a Watch hub of video highlights, so the event kept working after the last pitch. At the booth, we built Blades, a touchscreen kiosk in Webflow where visitors tap through the Directorate's innovation targets, program priorities and video highlights. Blades set the pattern for the kiosks that followed, including the offline kiosk we later built for the Warfare Symposium.

The Watch hub: a gold-toned header inviting visitors to watch videos from the Weapons Pitch Day live stream, above a carousel of video highlights.

What changed for Accomplices

With every show on the same system, a new event meant a new page in a structure the team already knew, not a new site. Accomplices kept the message and the client; we kept the pages moving. In Tesa's words, the split was simple. Accomplices kept bringing us the next show, and the one after that. The 2024 Warfare Symposium, with its meeting request page and its offline kiosk, has its own story.

Four pages from the events site: Air & Space Forces Association Warfare Symposium 2023, Wepcon Bravo, Innovation Targets and the events home page.
"We launch most of the pages on Webflow since 2021, but they are primarily managed by Fri3nds / Marce and his team."
